Compliment Coins

It’s 2017 and my first vacation without my kids since they were born. I’m snaking my way through a painfully long customs line at the airport and I keep seeing the same mom over and over and over. She’s got two young and crying children strapped to her body, while a third, a toddler barely able to stand, is wobbling and flopping around her. The kids are understandably losing it. She’s handling things. But it’s rough.

I find myself thinking I wish I could hand her a token of some kind. Something like a little note, but more special and beautiful. Like a little treasure. Something she can hold onto that says, “I’ve been there, and I see you. YOU ARE AMAZING.”

This little moment was the seed that eventually grew into Compliment Coins. We’ve all had times, both big and small, that remind us in someway that we are all in this together. Compliment Coins are my way of helping people feel good, more connected with each other, and a little less alone in things. It’s dreamy to watch them going out into the world. It makes me so happy.
